Hi my name is Wendy, and my family and I raise these special adorable puppies for loving responsible families. Shichons are wildly popular for good reasons. Not only are they wonderful companions and service dogs, but they easily adapt to almost any home environment. While they have beautiful, soft, fluffy coats, Shichons are a non- shedding breed. Many people who are allergic to most dogs are able to live happily with one of our puppies.
I have been breeding dogs for about 15 years. In addition to raising my own puppies, I have volunteered with a local animal rescue group to care for pregnant and nursing mothers and their puppies. I find both experiences to be educational and very rewarding. My family and I love it. My Husband Dan and I share our home with three truly loveable teenage children. My children were raised on a working homestead in the Missouri Ozarks before moving to our current home in Arizona. They have never known a day without dozens of animals in it.
We are looking for people who are knowledgeable about how to properly care for toy and small breed puppies. We have never sold to breeders. We are looking for families who will offer forever homes. This is, after all, a lifetime commitment.
I guarantee my puppies are socialized and raised in a healthy clean environment. They are truly Home-Raised Puppies. They have never been in a kennel of any kind. They were literally born into our hands. They have lived every day of their lives in my college daughter’s bedroom with separate areas for sleep, play, and puppy pads. They pad train naturally as soon as they are able to toddle to the spot farthest from their nest. We make sure that that is always lined with fresh pad that are changed several times a day. This loving environment fosters uncommonly happy, healthy, and intelligent dogs.
We follow the “Puppy Culture Program”. You can read more about this scientific set of week by week protocols by visiting puppyculture.com Briefly put, Puppy Culture consists of books, DVDs, and a workbook with charts and weekly guidelines on socialization, developmental progress, games, as well as dos and don’ts for the first 12 weeks of a puppies life. We augment this with daily “puppy classes” which give your puppy the equivalent of a puppy obedience certificate. Your little one will know how to sit, lie down, and walk on a loose leash before he leaves our care. This special treatment allows our Shichons develop wonderful personalities. They become well adjusted problem solvers who love to learn. If you don’t believe that a young puppy can learn these skills using only positive reinforcement, check out our videos on the Celestial Shichons Facebook page.
We consider puppy raising to be a labor of love. Our babies are systematically socialized and lovingly cared for by everyone in our large family. In addition, we have several dog loving friends who frequently make puppy pits-tops to unwind with a cuddly pup and a few warm kisses. Add developmentally appropriate “field trips” to nearby parks and shopping plazas and we create resilient, curious, and well adjusted dogs.
The parents and grand parents of these puppies are registered with the International Designer Canine Registry. Your puppy will come with puppy papers. They come with all their current vaccinations and have been on the recommended de-worming schedule. They will come to you with a health certificate from our veterinarian, and our Healthy Puppy Guarantee.
Like all healthy dogs, our puppies love to play and bounce around, but they also enjoy a quiet snuggle. We understand that each of our pups is an individual, with distinctive characteristics that make them special. We spend many hours getting to know the strengths of each fur baby. This allows us to make informed recommendations as to which puppies would best fit with your family and lifestyle. Please realize that finding the perfect puppy for your family is a team effort. WE are here to make sure that our little sweethearts go to a home that suits their personality. Not only for their wellbeing, but, ultimately for the happiness of your whole family for years to come.
I am often asked to speak to local school children about service dogs because I am both the President of my Lions Club and a 35 year veteran service-dog user. My husband and I are both visually impaired to the point that we use Labrador retrievers specially trained by Guide Dogs for the Blind. Our puppies grow up in the company of greatness. We currently are blessed with 3 wonderful role models. My guide- Blanch, my husband’s guide- Walden, and my retired guide- Fedora. You will see these three beauties throughout our pictures and videos. They show the younger generation how to be great companions.
If you are interested in finding a therapy-dog, or service-dog puppy prospect, look no further. We have owned these dogs for three generations. So we know their roots. Astral, the father of this litter, is a therapy dog that accompanies me when I give talks on service dog etiquette and dog safety to school children. He has sat through 5 hours and 7 classrooms full of children ranging in age from 4 year olds in head start to 11 year olds in 5th grade. Class after class he sat quietly while he was petted by each child. He did not jump up, he did not lick, and he made friendly eye contact with both the bold and the timid. Can you tell that he is a special favorite of mine?
While we can make no guarantees, each litter usually contains one or more puppies that our years of experience tell us would make an excellent candidate for a future career in the helping-dog profession. We currently have 3 of our puppies who have earned this honor. A puppy from our first litter is a Community Therapy Dog. One puppy from our second litter works as a therapy dog in his Mama’s counseling office. And one special little guy went all the way to Canada to become a Medical Service Dog for a music teacher with several health issues. Please let us know as soon as possible if you wish to reserve a helping-dog candidate and we will provide even more intensive training during the all important first 12 weeks in the life of your puppy.
All of our Shichon puppies are raised to be wonderful companions, are well socialized and ready to bring happiness into your home. You are more than welcome to come visit us, our puppies and their parents. If you are unable to come and visit, we would be more than happy to Skype so you can see the puppies in action. We can also arrange to have your puppy travel to meet your family at major airports throughout the world.
